PIE and affiliates
Phil Mulacek founded Petroleum Independent & Exploration (PIE) in Texas in 1981 with USD 2,500 of capital. Under his direction, PIE explored for, drilled and produced oil and gas across the south-western United States, developing and taking part in more than 90 wells at depths from 1,500 to 26,000 feet. It also built field infrastructure, including salt-water disposal systems, waste-oil reclamation, and crude oil treatment and blending facilities.
Today PIE and its sister companies focus on oil and gas royalty and mineral interests, holding interests in more than 400 properties covering over 500,000 acres, in Texas and Lousianna.
Empire
Phil Mulacek is Chairman of Empire Petroleum, a US oil and gas producer listed on the NYSE American (ticker: EP) and based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Empire focuses on getting more from established fields, with assets in New Mexico, North Dakota, Montana, Texas and Louisiana.
